During our Open House Martha Morrissey from Chevrolet surprised my dad and me with our 2011 Chevrolet Mark of Excellence Award plaque. This is a high honor for our dealership as a lot of variables come into play to win this award. Some of the criteria include selling a certain number of Chevrolet vehicles while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. Only a handful of Chevrolet dealers in the state of Washington were awarded the Chevrolet Mark of Excellence Award.

Aol Auto’s ran a story of the top 10 vehicles lease likely to get a speeding ticket. I found it very humorous that Art Gamblin Motors has sold almost all these vehicles that make the top 10 list. I should clarify we have sold 7 of the 10 vehicles new at Art Gamblin Motors. I do not know what that means… But here is the list.
8. Jaguar XJ
7. Chevrolet Suburban
6. Chevrolet Tahoe
5. Chevrolet Silverado
4. 2005 Buick Park Avenue
Tied for 2nd: 2007 Buick Rainier and 2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette
Tied for 1st: 2009 Buick Lucerne and 2009 GMC Sierra 1500

I am a huge fan of the new Buick Regal which is the Opel Insignia made in Germany. Since the announcement of the Buick Regal the rumor mill has started about getting a Buick Regal GS. This is not to far fetched as the Opel Insignia OPC has a 2.8L turbocharged V6 with AWD. The GS would be unbelievable. A Buick Regal GS would definitely be something to change the perception of Buick.
I do not know what it is but of late I have been really drawn to wagons. I guess it is just a phase I am in. Leave it to Bob Lutz at GM to leave you hanging on things he says are in the works at General Motors. I was heart broken when he was shot down after he said the Holden Commodore (the Pontiac G8) would be transformed into a Chevrolet. Well anyways after the news of the Buick Regal Bob Lutz was heard to say that it is in the plans to have a Buick Regal Wagon. I just hope that the Buick Regal Sport Wagon comes with the same styling as the Opel Insignia OPC Sport Tourer.
So this is my pleading case to Bob Lutz and GM please do not screw this Buick Regal up. Bring the Buick Regal GS and also break out the Buick Regal Sport Wagon! Art Gamblin Motors Buick

This was my first Seattle Auto Show. I really did not know what to expect, so I was going in with an open mind. I was really excited to see the Fisker Karma. I have read so many things about the car and seeing one in person was one of the main reasons why I wanted to go to the Auto Show. I dragged Sophia along and sort of made it my date day. I told her if she went with me I would take a full day of Christmas shopping with her. Sophia was great at the car show as she would jump in cars and tell me what she liked. Of course I would tell her at times Sophia you will never get that car. I think it was really hard for her when I told her that marrying a Gamblin that her chances of getting a Volvo or Audi or slim to none.
What I was so excited and shocked to see at the show was a Cadillac Converj. I could not believe it. I just wrote a lengthy blog on the Cadillac Converj as General Motors just announced that they will be putting the concept into production. It was great to see the car in person. I was a little disappointed not to see a CTS coupe, I thought for sure they would have one. Seeing the CTS Sport Wagon in person was great as well as I have blogged about that car as well.
I got to see my first Buick Lacrosse in person and actually sit in the seats. I am very excited with the direction Buick is heading. Of course I was praying a miracle would happen and a Buick Regal would be there. I thought I would never say that Buick has a great upcoming line up of young and aggressive vehicles.
The Chevrolet Exhibit was huge and you could tell that they were searching how to fill it. I understand that importance of having your vehicles there but an auto show is an auto show. I was really surprised to see a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept there. I had to explain to Sophia that was the car in Transformers 2 where they could have made an amazing car chase vs the Audi R8 but it lasted 10 seconds during the movie. I also liked how they lined up the Corvette’s all in a row. It started with the Stingray concept to the Corvette ZR1, Corvette Z06 and then the Corvette Grand Sport.

A few months ago Bob Lutz from General Motors made the mistake when asked if the Pontiac G8 where to be part of the Chevrolet stable he announced that they would be making a Chevrolet Caprice. The buzz around car forums was electric as one of GM’s most popular cars in the past few years (the Pontiac G8) would be making a comeback as a Chevrolet. Following Lutz’s remarks he was quickly shut down by GM CEO Fritz Henderson. So the hope for a Pontiac G8 return was quickly shut down.
Yesterday Chevrolet announced that the Chevrolet Caprice will be making a return but not for you or me but for the boys in blue. Yes the 2011 Chevrolet Caprice is a police vehicle. After I first saw the pictures of the car I was impressed but it did not look like the Pontiac G8. Let me just refresh you on the Pontiac G8. The Pontiac G8 was really the Australian built Holden Commodore. Once Pontiac announced its doors and factory lines would come to an end so did the Pontiac G8. The RWD Australian product was just catching on with American consumers and it sales numbers in 2009 where the highest they had ever been. So I have been waiting anxiously to see if GM or Chevrolet would make a move with Holden and bring back the Commodore and rebadge it as a Impala.
Now we have a Chevrolet Caprice but is not a Holden Commodore but is on the Zeta platform. The Zeta platform is the same as the new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. In the middle east they have a Chevrolet Caprice already and is on the Zeta-platform. There also currently is the Holden Caprice. In the middle east the Chevrolet Caprice won a couple of awards in the luxury car segement. Chevy claims, “it is indisputable that the Chevrolet Caprice is indeed one of the world’s best large luxury sedans.” The talk is that the 2011 Chevrolet Caprice will be built in the Oshawa, Ontario plant in Canada (same plant as the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro).
The 2011 Caprice will come loaded with a 6.0L V8 Engine, which offers fuel-saving technology like Active Fuel Management and E85 capability, produces 355-hp with a maximum torque of 384 lb-ft. Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, the Chevrolet Caprice can go 0 to 60 mph in the sub 6-second range.
So the question I am left pondering will the 2011 Chevrolet Caprice make it to dealership floors? I hope so. The designs out of Holden in Australia are awesome!

There is a huge change coming to General Motors Company,
Leading the change is new Chairman Edward Whitacre, Whitacre who joined GM during its bankruptcy process and remained fairly quiet until this month. The former AT&T Chief does not have much experience in the business but is acting fast to clean up GM. It was reported earlier this month that Whitacre is being “frighteningly direct” with the top-level executives and is asking to see improvement in sales, market share and profitability. He said that if those changes don’t happen soon, there will be significant consequences.
The campaign started with a website “thebestcarwins” which was a survey to rank cars in 5 categories. Fuel Efficiency, Safety, Quality, Performance, the Best. It was surprising for me to see what everyone thought. So far the survey had Honda picked as #1 in quality that was interesting as they have been not in the top tier of J.D. Powers Initial Quality ratings for quite some time.
In part with the new ad campaign of “May the Best Car Win” GM with a 60 second commercial Whitacre speaks about GM’s new incentive where buyers of a new Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet or GMC will be able to return their vehicle within 60 days if they are not happy with it. So that means buy a new car and if you are not happy bring it back.
